Situation

Halvard Grid sells monitoring software to energy network operators. The board saw three versions of annual recurring revenue and none of them agreed. Cloud costs had crept up to a third of revenue.

Work

Linnea agreed one definition of recurring revenue with the founders and rebuilt the reports on it. She tracked net revenue retention by customer cohort and set cloud-cost targets per product line with the engineering lead.

Result

Net revenue retention reached 118% on the new definition. The cloud share of revenue fell from 31% to 24%, and the board pack now goes out four days after the month ends.

The numbers

  • 118% Net revenue retention
  • 24% Cloud cost share of revenue, down from 31%
  • 4 days Board pack after month end

Our board pack used to take a week. Now it takes four days and says something.
