Situation

Ostley Robotics builds robot arms for warehouses and had sixty people. Its CFO resigned six weeks before the annual audit. The controller was capable but alone, the close took twenty-one days and the board wanted answers.

Work

Linnea took the CFO seat at twelve days a month. She ran the audit, rebuilt the close checklist and sat in the weekly leadership meeting. In month three she wrote the job description and ran the search with the founders.

Result

The audit finished with no findings. The close fell from twenty-one days to nine. A permanent CFO started in month five and received a handover pack with every open item listed.

The numbers

  • 5 months Interim cover
  • 9 days Close time, down from 21
  • 0 Audit findings

For five months the CFO seat was full again. The close went from three weeks to nine days and the auditors had nothing to add.
